Caroline Ogle, Musician

BIOGRAPHY

Caroline was born in Northeast Iowa in 1985 to Fremont Ogle, a high school chorus teacher, and Swenette (Forsberg) Ogle, an art teacher. Caroline has two older brothers, Tom Ogle and Jonathan Ogle. Caroline is of Swedish, English, Irish and Swiss heritage.

Because even as a very young toddler Caroline displayed a love of music, she  was entered in talent contests from the age of 3, resulting in shelves full of  trophies and awards over the years. By elementary school years she eagerly pursued vocal, flute, piano, gymnastics, baton, ballet and tap lessons. Included in her many accomplishments was being a finalist in the Bill Riley Iowa State Fair Talent Contest, being a finalist in the KWWL-TV "Make Me a Star" contest, and being invited to sing "The Lord's Prayer" both for the Iowa House and Senate as their "Pastor of the Day" while in 5th grade.

When Caroline's family moved from Iowa to Florida, she began her middle school years participating in chorus and band at public school. She was delighted to be accepted into the Tampa Bay Children's Chorus. In addition, she continued private flute lessons.

Caroline was auditioned and became a member of the Pinellas Youth Symphony for flute. In addition, she was selected to attend the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA) magnet high school in St. Petersburg, Florida, for instrumental or for voice. She chose voice. At PCCA she was involved with many high-level music and theory classes and lessons as well as ensembles, activities and productions. Students there are guided by professionally involved instructors. Senior year she was the lead in the school's musical Finale. During two of her high school summers, Caroline attended Dorian Camp at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and was selected to perform solos with their choir.

Even with her full schedule in high school, she managed to participate in over 75 hours of volunteer work with Hospice and to achieve her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Initially, majoring in Music Therapy at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, Caroline's voice teacher soon suggested she change to a performance major . . .  a suggestion taken to heart. At Rollins Caroline was a member of Rollins College Choir, woodwinds, orchestra and flute choir. She was accepted into the prestigious Winter Park Bach Festival Society as a member and occasional vocal soloist, performing and touring with them. Caroline also often sang with the choir and played flute at the First Congregational Church. She helped introduce, on the Rollins campus, their first local chapter of SAI, a music fraternity.

In May of 2008, Caroline received her B.A. degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude with music honors, as a Vocal and Flute Performance major and with a minor in Studio Art from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida.

Recently Caroline earned her M.M. degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Florida Fine Arts Department. She studied voice under Dr. Elizabeth Graham.

Caroline continues to study with Dr. Graham, planning to pursue a career in vocal performance. This summer, Caroline was selected to study opera in Austin, Texas.
